A Garden Affair

The weather outside is frightful.  Come in from the cold as we offer a trio of programs to get you looking forward to Spring and planning for the new garden season. 

1:00 pm: Beekeeping Essentials for the First Year
Learn how to get started keeping bees – discover how to use beekeeping tools; find out where propolis, flower pollen honey, and royal jelly come from; learn about the medicinal benefits from honeybee byproducts and about diseases afflicting honeybees such as colony collapse disorder.  A complete beehive will be on hand to offer an up close view of this fascinating and vital part of every gardener’s ecosystem.

1:40 pm: Seed Sharing Library
Michele McNeal will give you a quick introduction to our Seed Sharing Library.  Don’t forget to stop by and pick up some heirloom variety seeds to get you started.

2:00 pm:  Container Gardening
No time or room for an in ground garden? Container gardening can be great way to maximize small spaces while growing a variety of herbs, flowers and produce.  Cathy Morgan will introduce us to the joys of this gardening style

All programs are free and open to all. Free parking is available all day on Saturdays in the High Street parking deck adjacent to the Library.
